The traditional nursery rhyme with monkeys jumping, falling and banging their heads: ‘Mumma called the doctor and the doctor said, ‘No more monkeys jumping on the bed!’
Origin:
This is a traditional English language song that can be used for skipping (jump rope) and can be played with hand actions so that each of your fingers represent a monkey. It is also a useful song for teaching signing and counting. I added the last two verses so the monkeys’ Daddy becomes a part of the story as well. At the end I changed the arrangement from the traditional ‘Shortnin’ Bread’ to something that sounded more like a lullaby so the monkeys can go to sleep.
